  • Bekoji 100

    The Bekoji 100 short film explores the story of Girls Gotta Run Foundation, a nonprofit which invests in girls who use running and education to empower themselves and their communities in Ethiopia. The film, shot in 2019 before Covid and civil unrest in Ethiopia made travel there difficult, focuses on Desta and Zabu, two adolescent female runners from Bekoji, and Coach Fatiya, who trains Girls Gotta Run athletic scholars. As they embark on completing a 100 mile, ultra relay race across Ethiopia alongside international runners and their Girls Gotta Run teammates, they share their athletic ambitions and the trials they face as young women in their society. Girls Gotta Run is still supporting these girls and their teammates, with the goal of keeping girls in school, delaying marriage, and providing access to supportive social networks.

    The Speed Project is a 340 mile relay from the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles to Las Vegas. It was first run in 2014 when six runners decided to see how quickly they could cover the distance. This film follows Girl Gang Crazy as they run TSP as the first team of Black and Brown women to complete the race. Chasing Crazy, a film about the journey, sisterhood, and pushing limitations.

    Trail runner Zachary Friedley is used to being told he can’t do things, and then doing them anyway. This summer, he set his eyes on one of trail running’s hardest and most prestigious events: the UTMB MCC race, an epic run through the Alps that stretches 40km with 2300m of elevation change. But Zachary didn’t just want to compete for himself; he wanted to show the world that adaptive athletes belong on the trail, and they will no longer wait to be told they can do so. They are here to compete. “Trail Blader” tells the story of Zachary’s journey to UTMB, the events that led him to it and what he envisions for the future of trail running.

    Once one of the largest natural bodies of water in Chile, Laguna de Aculeo is now a dry, cracked expanse of brown soil interspersed with green brush. Drought, overuse, and governmental neglect led this one-time water sports destination to become water-free and navigable by foot. Janji Field Team athlete Polo Pavez headed down to the lake from nearby Santiago to run on the lakebed, exploring how it got this bad and pondering what can be done to prevent the same fate for other natural resources.

    The Marathon That Never Ends is a film in honor of Mother’s Day, to helps to raise awareness of the disproportionate burnout of mothers, an issue that has intensified since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film draws parallels between marathon running and motherhood, paying homage to all the moms who went the extra miles this few year with an undefined finish line. The film explains how during the pandemic years, working moms in particular have faced more challenges and are bearing the brunt of childcare, housework and home-schooling.

  • Born to Adapt

    Born to Adapt is a short documentary that elevates awareness about hidden disabilities, shows the potential for disabled people to fully participate in the outdoors, and celebrates the ingenuity and perseverance of disabled people and their allies. The film intentionally speaks to the disabled and able-bodied communities equally. People need champions that look like them. Born to Adapt shows that everyday people can be champions and have powerful influence on others. It shows what those champions can do, beginning with one person who is willing to invest in building a community.
